In a groundbreaking initiative, the University of Lucknow (LU) is set to become the first state university in Uttar Pradesh to establish a global presence. Under the plans, the university will open its first offshore campus in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The move, led by LU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, aims to foster international academic collaborations. During a recent visit to Tajikistan, which borders Kazakhstan, Prof. Rai and a university delegation engaged with officials from Almaty Management University. These discussions paved the way for the proposed campus. Initially, the Almaty campus will offer specialised programs such as MBA and BBA courses, alongwith other professional degrees.
