The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated the state’s integrated COVID-19 forum in Lucknow, on Sunday. The application, labreports.upcovid19tracks, has been programmed and designed to digitally set up a means to trace and control the trend of exponential community spread of the novel coronavirus, helping the state to curb the transmission & growth rate of the infection.
A test in time will save life!
The Uttar Pradesh administration has come up with a digital solution to magnify the efficiency of tracking, tracing, testing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the state through the newly launched portal of Lab Reports. Linked to android cells via an application, the site can be accessed by anyone in the state through two routes of dgmhup.gov.in and labreports.upcovid19tracks.in only.
The application will be unified with various platforms like COVID-19 helplines, surveillance, labs and facility. This association will enable the state to establish a system that will be a blend of automated helpline response, surveillance case tracking, digital building of an authentic database along with the physical verification by regional level employees and rapid response teams (RRTs). It further aims to straighten out the process of infection testing and access to reports and allow its users to download a copy of their test via an OTP generated access. This eliminates the need to visit testing centres multiple times in a tricky environment.
The application has been set-up primarily keeping this attribute of testing and tracking in mind; a lot of samples that were tested by the state were registered against broken address links and wrong mobile numbers, obstructing the delivery of reports and tracking the spread time. Uttar Pradesh is currently dealing with a total caseload of about 3,54,275 cases.
The digital mechanism will also be integrated with the central government application, a mobile application to track cases, domestic travel platform and state coronavirus dashboard, tallying and updating the numbers generated by the testing labs to the website of ICMR and the state dashboard.
This interlinked set-up will help in automatically verifying, monitoring and directing the positive infection reports to route from testing labs to designated and available treatment facilities and hospitals. Besides, the application will also keep an additional track of patients under home isolation.

Uttar Pradesh has scaled up testing capacities over the months, in order to identify the chain of coronavirus and break it. And this innovative step just might be the breakthrough that the state and its people have been waiting for. The state has captained all other Indian states in medical testing so far, conducting the highest number of COVID-19 tests in the country, and with this coming together of technological advancement and medical facilities, it is preparing to set-up another benchmark all over again!
