The district authorities in Lucknow are starting a targeted campaign to curtail the possibilities of COVID-19 spread in the city, ahead of Holi festivities. Boosting its fight against the coronavirus, officials have initiated focused testing schedules from today to detect positive cases in schools, hotels and even in smaller shops and outlets that can lead to a viral outburst. In addition to this, all visitors arriving from different states in the country shall have to take the COVID-19 diagnostic test, upon arrival into the state.
Special COVID sampling drives to spot and isolate affected individuals
Keeping in view, the gatherings and celebrations that would mark the upcoming festivals, the Health Department has issued an alert for the city residents. Aligning with this, Lucknow will be a witness to specific COVID sampling drives for spotting the affected individuals and isolating them. In this direction, it is expected that focused drives shall be conducted at all sweet shops in the city. Given the prompt action being taken by the administrative and medical authorities, it is evident that no stone is being left unturned to prevent the virus spread.
COVID test mandatory for all visitors from different states
Additionally, the officials have decided to keep a strict check on all travelers arriving from different regions in the country, with a special focus on those coming from high-risk states. No individual shall be allowed entry in Lucknow without getting tested for COVID-19. With special teams deployed in the city, it shall be ensured that no visitor escapes out of the antigen test for virus detection. Recently, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala have observed a revived surge in COVID numbers, thereby raising special concerns on all commuters from these states.
Active COVID cases, highest in the state
With 240 active cases on Saturday, Lucknow has the highest count of COVID positive people in the state. As per records, the city registered a confirmed cumulative patient tally of 82,084 individuals and a total of 1,188 fatalities till now, on Saturday. While the state government is implementing multifaceted measures to accelerate vaccination drives, it is equally important to keep a check on probable reasons for COVID contamination. Thus, the current intervention comes at the right time, making sure that the citizens do not have to bear the brunt of an increased virus spread.
