Gagan’s musical identity is predominantly rooted in indie music, with recent explorations into Punjabi musical terrain. His breakthrough came during the pandemic with “Kho Gye Hum Kahan,” a track that garnered an impressive 100,000 YouTube views, signalling his growing resonance with listeners.
Gagan’s creative process is refreshingly organic. He switches between two composition approaches: sometimes crafting lyrics first, other times beginning with a melodic framework. His recent project, ‘Holding Onto You,’ epitomises this spontaneity – conceived casually over coffee, the experimental track features a Punjabi segment too and is inspired by Rumi’s philosophical musings about transcending conventional boundaries.
Embracing the unpredictability of artistic pursuits, Walia believes in maintaining creative independence. “When you try something new,” he reflects, “it might work or not. The key is to remain uninfluenced and stay true to yourself.”
