The Uttar Pradesh government has given the green light to a proposal for setting up five state-of-the-art seed parks across the state, named in honour of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. The first of these parks will be established in Lucknow, on 130.63 acres of land in Attari, with an investment of ₹266.70 crore. It will feature modern infrastructure including seed production units, advanced processing and storage facilities, speed breeding systems, and hybrid seed laboratories.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi stated that investors will be offered concessions, including land leases of up to 90 years. Each park is expected to create 1,200 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs, and connect around 40,000 seed-producing farmers.
The move aims to reduce UP’s dependence on other states for seeds and provide quality inputs to farmers at local rates, ultimately strengthening the rural economy and boosting farm incomes.
