Mumbai’s International Cruise Terminal (ICT) is expected to be commissioned by 2024, said Chief Minister of Maharastra at the 3rd Edition of Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) on October 17. GMIS is an annual flagship event which aims at propelling the Indian maritime economy by promoting global and regional partnerships and facilitating investments.
The three-day summit (October 17-19) is focused on the key issues of the maritime sector, including ports of the future, decarbonisation, coastal shipping, inland water transportation and shipbuilding.
Once operational, the ICT will have the capacity to handle almost 200 cruise ships, from all over the world and one million passengers per annum. As per officials, given the 720 km-long coastline of Maharashtra, ICT will contribute significantly to the growth of India’s maritime trade.

Marking 150 years of Mumbai Port Authority, a stamp was also released by Governor of Mumbai, along with ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, a blueprint for the Indian maritime blue economy, during the Summit.
Elaborating on the Maritime vision, involving the development of multimodal connectivity comprising roads, railways, sea and waterways infrastructure for private ports, the policy will also give a significant boost to maritime tourism, shipbuilding, repair and recycling industries.
