The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to make Mumbai's Kala Ghoda art precinct 'pedestrian only' on weekends. Starting today, August 31, the area will be closed for vehicles from 7 PM to 12 AM on weekends.

This is an attempt to increase the footfall in the art precinct that houses art galleries, iconic structures, shops, and eateries. However, this decision has been taken only on a trial basis and the BMC will gauge the visitor's response before making this change permanent.

Furthermore, beautification of this art precinct in Mumbai will also commence from October this year, after the monsoon ends. This will also involve upgrading the pathways to make them more pedestrian-friendly.
