In a bid to control the rapid spread of coronavirus in Goa, the govt on Monday announced the extension of the curfew, until 7 AM on August 2. COVID curfew was initially imposed in the state on May 9 in wake of the 'second wave'. Since then, it has been repeatedly extended to actively break the chain of the virus. While several relaxations have been put in place here, the administration also released a set of detailed guidelines in the coastal state to prevent any further unprecedented rise.

As a precautionary measure against the rising spread, the Goa government has decided to extend the public curfew here for another week, till August 2. SOPs have been issued to ensure that there is no laxity in any way for the virus to rise and spread. On Monday, the state reported as many as 75 fresh cases in a single day. Besides, 6 new virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours have further aggravated the need to stabilise the pandemic situation here.

What will remain open during the Goa curfew?
All medical shops will remain open. Additionally, all medical and health institutes are also permitted to work, without restrictions.
Banks, insurance, customs clearance and ATMs will also work. All public work offices, public utilities, power generation, post and courier officers, and other related activities will also remain operational.
Industrial setups and factory-related work can operate as well. Hospitality, media structures and internet service places are also allowed to work.
Which places are allowed to open with certain restrictions?
Bars and restaurants can only allow 50% dine-in guests, from 7 AM to 9 PM. A similar capacity (of 50%) will be permitted at indoor gyms.
Meanwhile, sports complexes can function, without an audience or spectators.
Only 15 people will be allowed inside a religious place, in compliance with COVID appropriate behaviour.
Buisinesses will be allowed to work only from 7 AM to 7 PM. However, home delivery of all items, except alcohol will be allowed anytime.
What will remain closed?
All casinos, auditoriums, community halls and other such set-ups will remain closed. Spa or massage parlours will also remain shut.
Other activities of recreation, such as river cruises, water parks and entertainment parks will also be closed. Cinema Halls, theatres and multiplexes will be shut as well.
Weekly markets will remain closed in wake of social distancing norms.
Social/political/academic gatherings, gathering for marriage functions can accommodate only 100 people - or at 50% of hall capacity.
Are schools allowed to open in Goa?
Schools, coaching and other educational institutes will remain closed. However, competitive exams will be conducted as per schedule, after approval from the state.
What are the travel guidelines in Goa?
All interstate travel is prohibited here for those who will not be able to produce a COVID negative test report - conducted, no older than 72 hours before travel. People will also be permitted to travel in medical emergencies, provided authentic proof.
