Over 100 crore saplings to be nurtured in UP for plantation drives next year!

With large-scale plantation drives in the past, Uttar Pradesh has been forging ahead towards its dream of expanding the green cover in the state. Notably, over 30 crore saplings were planted this year and now, the state government has set the target of planting 35 crore saplings in 2022. 25.5 crore saplings planted in UP on Sunday as part of a mega plantation drive

Uttar Pradesh witnessed a mega plantation drive on Sunday, wherein around 25.5 crore saplings were planted in a single day! This step has been taken with the aim of expanding the state's overall forest cover, which presently stands at 3.05% against the national average of 2.89%. Reportedly, the UP government targets to plant 30 crore saplings in July.

Lucknow hosts a mega plantation spectacle on the occasion of World Environment Day today!

In a bid to commemorate the occasion of World Environment Day, the Lucknow Mayor 'sowed the sapling' of a mega plantation drive at the Rahimabad Atal Udaya Forest today. Backed by the Lucknow Nagar Nigam, this green initiative intends to plant around 1 lakh plants across 5 hectares of land in the city. Streamlined with this, around 400 oxygen-rich plants were seeded in different localities of Lucknow by the municipality on Saturday, powered by its alliance with the Anantsheel Welfare Foundation and Goonj Sanstha.

Lucknow & other UP districts expect a green revamp with 30 crore saplings to be planted!

Uttar Pradesh is all set to witness its annual plantation drive in the first week of July and it is estimated that over 30 crore saplings will be planted across Lucknow and other state districts, this time. With regards to this, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, has issued fresh directives, instructing all district magistrates to spot designated areas for these drives. Further, they have also been asked to provide saplings to the district forest officers (DFOs) by June 15.
