In a move to ensure law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the state authorities on Tuesday decided to set up the 91st battalion of Rapid Action Force (RAF) in Lucknow. The upcoming new centre is pegged to reduce the response time of the force in case of emergencies or short notices, assisting in law enforcement. It may be noted that the RAF battalions are based in various parts of the country.
State & District to benefit from the new RAF headquarters
In a high-level meeting presided by the ACS of Home Department, Avanish Awasthi on Tuesday, the state and district authorities have agreed to build an RAF battalion base in Lucknow. The headquarters are expected to come up at the Bajpur Gangaura village in Bakshi Ka Talab, the land for which has been identified by the Lucknow District Administration.
The local base will be able to rush designated teams on the incident site or region to maintain order, at a short notice. This will strengthen the rapid response unit and force of the city as well as the state.
