Now, 'Oxygen availability' emerges as new unlock criteria across Mumbai & other Maha districts

In a rather unconventional move, the state of Maharashtra has tagged 'oxygen availability' and test positivity rate, as the unlock criteria across its various districts. As per reports, the state's 5-level unlock programme will now be regulated on the basis of oxygen bed occupancy status as LMO has been designated as "the most critical resource" for the treatment of COVID-19. Meanwhile, the state government has awarded certain relaxations across Mumbai and other districts on Monday, after a two-month hiatus.

5-level unlock plan enforced in Maharashtra; Mumbai among the Level 2 areas of the state

The government of Maharashtra commenced an unlock plan late Friday night, in which five levels have been created to manage restrictions. As per reports, there are 18 districts witnessing Level 1 unlock, 5 districts on Level 2, 10 districts on Level 3, 2 in Level 4 and the remaining will be in Level 5. Mumbai is currently on Level 2 unlock, however, the situation of each area will be assessed on a weekly basis to avoid any rise in the case tallies.

Taking a U-turn, Maharashtra govt denies partial ease in lockdown across Mumbai & other districts

Hours after the announcement of a phased unlocking in Maharashtra on Thursday, the state government changed its stance and decided to continue the lockdown restrictions across the territory. On June 3, the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister had informed about a 5-level unlock strategy in the state, however, an official statement detailed that the lockdown has not been lifted (from Friday) anywhere in Maharashtra as the proposed strategy is still under consideration.
