Now, 'Oxygen availability' emerges as new unlock criteria across Mumbai & other Maha districts

In a rather unconventional move, the state of Maharashtra has tagged 'oxygen availability' and test positivity rate, as the unlock criteria across its various districts. As per reports, the state's 5-level unlock programme will now be regulated on the basis of oxygen bed occupancy status as LMO has been designated as "the most critical resource" for the treatment of COVID-19. Meanwhile, the state government has awarded certain relaxations across Mumbai and other districts on Monday, after a two-month hiatus.

BMC launches survey in Mumbai to find children orphaned due to the pandemic

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has rolled out a special survey in Mumbai to screen pandemic deaths and find those children who have lost both their parents to the COVID infection. The civic body has tasked each of its ward offices to conduct the inspection with the help of IT Department. All kids identified via this scrutiny will be looked after by the State Women and Child Development (WCD), read reports.

15-day curfew & new guidelines issued in Maharashtra as Mumbai & Pune observe high COVID-19 surge

The Maharashtra government has announced stringent protocols, declaring a strict 15-day curfew across the state amid the surge of coronavirus infection. Reportedly, authorities have dismissed the imposition of a complete lockdown and have instead ordained Section 144 here, from 8 PM on April 14 till 7 AM on May 1. Assembly of 5 or more than 5 people is prohibited, by state orders but all essential services have been permitted to remain functional. Grocery, e-commerce related to emergency goods and food delivery will be permitted between 7 AM and 8 PM.

Mumbai's private hospitals resume COVID vaccination that got suspended due to dose shortage

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has permitted 62 private hospitals in Mumbai to resume the COVID-19 inoculation drive. As per reports, about 71 private facilities had to suspend their vaccination activity last week due to a crunch in the number of available doses. However, over the weekend, BMC received about 2,35,000 vaccine doses, kickstarting the vaccination drive in the private hospitals once again. The remaining 9 hospitals will also be buying vaccine vials soon and will accordingly be permitted to restart the vaccination drive starting Tuesday.
