The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has now called in applications for PhD holders under its special recruitment drive for Assistant Professors. This is exclusively for Indian nationals belonging to reserved categories -SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ (PwD- VH, OH, HH) for multiple vacancies concerning with the post of Assistant Professor in diverse departments of the institute.

The new faculties which will be recruited under this drive will be engaged in departments of Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Design, Earth Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Industrial and Management Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Space Science and Astronomy and Sustainable Energy Engineering as Assistant Professors.
Furthermore, the institute has also released the application procedure guidelines, payscale, minimum qualifications for the posts and selection criteria for these vacancies.
Minimum Qualification (Assistant Professor)

As per IIT Kanpur’s qualification guidelines for the post of assistant professor, individuals with PhD with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record in all preceding degrees will be deemed eligible by the institute.

Moreover, for fresh PhD holders, the position will be on a contract basis for the first three years which will be regularized afterwards.

For those with three or more years of post-PhD teaching/ research/ industrial experience, regular appointments can be made. Reservation in direct recruitment will be as per the provisions of the Central Educational Institutes (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019.
