Passengers departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) or Mumbai Airport, will soon be paying more for their tickets, as the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved a revised User Development Fee (UDF). Effective May 16, the new rates are part of a move to support improvement of airport amenities, maintaining terminal facilities, and upgrading infrastructure to support growing traffic.
Domestic flyers to pay ₹175
Domestic travellers departing from Mumbai will now pay a UDF of ₹175 per ticket, marking an increase of ₹55 from the previous rate. As domestic passengers make up around 75% of total footfall at CSMIA, the change is expected to impact the majority of travellers passing through the airport.
Updated rates for international passengers
For international departures, UDF has been revised with class-based differentiation:

Economy Class: ₹615 per passenger

AERA approves revised structure after review
According to AERA, the revised fee is a result of detailed evaluation. Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) had originally proposed a higher UDF, but AERA, after conducting comprehensive due diligence, approved a lower Aggregate Revenue Requirement. The adjustment will result in a 21.65% increase over current airport charges.
Looking ahead, MIAL expects to handle approximately 229 million passengers over the next five years, reinforcing the need for sustainable infrastructure investment. The revised UDF is intended to support these expansion and improvement efforts.
