International Women’s Day ushered a blossom of new opportunities for an Uttar Pradesh woman. Accompanied by 26 women who initiated training on March 8, Fatima Naaz embarked on a voyage to become one of the first female bus drivers of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. A science graduate from Kamalganj town of Farrukhabad, Fatima is all set to mark her entry into a male-dominated field and become an example of striking grit and fortitude!

UPSRTC had recently released an advertisement for training and hiring of women candidates to be employed in the state bus services. Prompted by this, Fatima filed an application and managed to secure a spot in the first group of females to be trained. With an aim to support her family financially, Fatima was eagerly exploring opportunities after the demise of her father and this seemed like a viable avenue to her. Daughter of Tasveerul Hasan and Hadeesa Bano, Fatima has definitely made her kin proud through her astounding accomplishment!
Currently, she is receiving training with her peers of the maiden batch at Model Driving Training and Research Institute in Kanpur. Demanding as the job may be, Fatima is leaving no stone unturned to execute passionate efforts in order to evolve as an efficient and responsible driver. Reportedly, Fatima informed that she received significant support from her friends, family and colleagues through her journey.
