After serving the country for 34 long years, INS Gomati F 21 will now be seen at Gomti River Front in Lucknow soon. After the final nod from the Indian Navy, the UP government is working towards bringing this warship home. According to reports, the officials have already earmarked three locations in the city, one of which will be finalised by the Indian Navy soon.

Launched on 19 March 1984 and commissioned on 16 April 1988, the INS Gomati F 21 gracefully retired from the Navy on March 31, this year. At present, this warship is safe with the Navy’s Eastern Command in Mumbai. Notably, this warship was named after the sacred Gomti river. In sync with its name, the logo of INS Gomati F 21 showcases Chattar Manzil which is located near the banks of Gomti in Lucknow.

With the permanent setup of this retired warship at the River Front, Lucknow is all set to add another landmark to its list of tourist attractions in the city. After becoming a landmark in itself, this warship will remind the city folks of its valour after completing its honourable service.
According to officials, INS Gomati F 21 will be brought to the Capital City via sea route. Since there is no direct sea link from Mumbai to Lucknow, this warship will be brought in parts that will later be reassembled at a chosen location. Once established at the Gomti River Front, this warship will be open for the public to see and explore.
