In light of the shortage of hospital beds, a new temporary COVID provisional facility is being established at the Haj House in Lucknow. This centre in Sarojini Nagar will accommodate 225 beds and function as a level 3 treatment centre, creating a critical care facility for several patients in this emergency hour of the pandemic. Preparations are currently underway and it is expected that in the next 10 days, all work will be completed, after which patients can be admitted here.
Haj House COVID centre overview
While a new provisional coronavirus facility is being constructed at the Awadh Shiplgram, another COVID centre will be green flagged at the Haj House in Lucknow. The facility is being developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), who will also look after its operations. As per reports, this facility will be equipped with 100 high flow nasal cannula support and 25 ventilators for the benefit of the admitted patients. A convoy of doctors, paramedics and other medical staff will be stationed here for the treatment and assistance of the patients.
Additionally, special provisions and would also be made here to ensure that the family of the affected individual is relayed day-to-day updates about the patient’s medical status. A prime level 3 centre, this centre will cater to very critical patients in Lucknow, fostering respite amid the present day scenario, where one has to run from pillar to post to manage one hospital bed to begin the virus treatment.
The largest of its kind in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow’s Haj House is otherwise used to provide accommodation to Hajj pilgrims across the state. Reportedly, a third centre will also be set up at the venue of Defence Expo in Lucknow, to relieve the pressure on the medical infrastructure of the worst affected district of Uttar Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours, about 3,956 people were logged in as COVID positive in Lucknow, pushing the aggregate tally to 2,04,788 cases here. Meanwhile, 6,073 people have recovered, boosting the recuperation rate to 77.5% in the city.
