As daily case tallies revert to controlled levels in Lucknow, it is important to toughen the shield against the virus making sure that no lags lead to an accelerated spread again. Keeping this in view, the authorities have planned to deploy eleven mobile testing vans in a bid to increase the avenues for quick and easy diagnostic tests. Slated to be functional from Friday, these vehicles will travel across the city assuring enhanced accessibility to testing for the city residents.
7 private laboratories roped in to amplify testing
Aiming to expand the scale of operations, the administration is going to initiate the project in association with 7 private laboratories. Thereby, the city will have 4 government testing vans while 7 of them will be privately owned facilities. Touring through different localities in the city, these vehicles shall visit the homes of suspected patients and collect samples for RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen tests.
District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash said, “During sample collection, correct phone number and address of the suspected infected patient will be recorded by the staff involved in mobile Covid sample collection. Further, the result of the patient, whether negative or positive, will be uploaded on the same day on the portal.” Additionally, he also mentioned that strict legal action will be taken against private laboratories if complaints regarding overpricing are registered. It is mandatory for all facilities to adhere to the state-prescribed rates while charging the citizens for the tests.
493 new infections & 1400 recoveries marked on Wednesday in Lucknow
With 493 new cases and 1400 recoveries registered on Wednesday, the active case tally further contracted in Lucknow to a count of 7,917 patients. Bringing some respite for the city folks, the daily count of new detections has taken a downward trajectory for over three weeks progressively. While 2,35,208 individuals in the city have been affected by the virus till now, 2,316 of these have succumbed to the virus.
