Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association trials to begin in the 1st week of August!

After the long halt induced by the pandemic, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has now opened registrations across all age groups for the current session 2021-22. As per the plans, the trials will be commenced by the first week of August so that the teams are ready before the start of the tournaments in mid-September. According to the schedule, the Senior Women National One Day Championship will be the first event for this year, which is slated to start on 21st September.

Deepak Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association informed that the registrations will be open till 31st July 2021. This process is being conducted at various affiliated District Cricket Association Centres. While no fee will be charged from the already registered candidates from the 2020-21 session, new applicants will have a submit an amount of ₹300. Notably, it is necessary for the players to attach a copy of the Aadhaar card and the birth certificate, amongst other documents.

While the 2021-22 session will begin with Senior Women National One Day Championship, the COO informed that the Vinoo Mankad Trophy cricket tournament will be next in the line of events. Commemorating the exceptional cricketer who played for India during the 1940s and 1950s, this tournament is scheduled for a start on 28th September.

In view of these upcoming matches, the authorities are trying to make sure that under-16, under-19, under-23 and open teams are formed by the first week of September.

The aforesaid decisions and announcements were made at a UPCA meeting convened at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. It was marked by the presence of various district representatives. The officials from Lakhimpur Kheri, Jalaun, Jaunpur and other cities asked for the establishment of cricket grounds in their cities. Besides, the association has ensured that it will provide the needed financial assistance to the cricketers and umpires affected by the pandemic.
