It was once a mango orchard, opened in 1978, thanks to the efforts of the famous ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali. Today, it’s recognised as a mini zoo by the Central Zoo Authority of India and offers a unique way for families to experience and connect with animals, birds, and nature.

Sundarvan is a treasure trove of biodiversity, home to a fascinating collection of reptiles, birds, small mammals, and two serene ponds. One of Sundarvan’s highlights is the Snake Awareness Programme, held every Sunday at 5 PM in the amphitheatre. Here, visitors can get up close with reptiles like the Russell’s viper, Indian cobra, and Red Sand Boa, while experts dispel myths and share valuable conservation knowledge. Sundarvan’s team also rescues snakes from urban areas, demonstrating their commitment to wildlife protection.
