The navy officials have decided to kick off a motorcycle rally from Goa to Madikeri on August 14, to commemorate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav’ and the diamond jubilee year of the Goa Liberation. The two milestone events, i.e., 75 years of India’s independence and 60 years of Goa’s freedom from the Portuguese rule, will be marked by this 6-day expedition ride. As per reports, 10 riders from the Goa Naval Area will participate in the rally, which will end on August 21, 2021.

In a celebratory honour, the Goa Naval Base will flag off a motorcycle rally a day ahead of Independence Day. The ride will start from the War Memorial at INS Gomantak, informed officers. This structure was established to memorialise the supreme sacrifice of the personnel during Goa Liberation.
The party will reach Madikeri, where they would visit the Memorial of Field Marshal Cariappa, the General Thimayya Museum and Sainik School Kodagu, they added. From this point, the riders will start the return journey.
This will also double up as Goa’s tribute to the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a nationwide initiative to mark 75 years of India’s Independence. As per reports, the programme was launched by the Prime Minister on March 12. He flagged off a Dandi March from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on March 12, this year, to commence the celebrations of the upcoming landmark event.
