Bringing good news for cricket fans in the city, Jaipur is all set to witness Group D matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy from February 20. According to reports, the tournament will be marked by matches at SMS Stadium, KL Saini Stadium and Jaipuria Ground. These matches would be played by teams from different parts of the country including Rajasthan, Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Puducherry.
Practice & friendly matches assure that the turfs are in tune
While certain questions and concerns were raised over the functionality of the grounds for the upcoming matches given the long closure caused by the lockdown, the practice and friendly matches, conducted recently, have confirmed that the turfs are in tune. Though different kinds of matches ask for different requirements from the pitch, it has been observed that domestic ODIs require fields that are batting-friendly in nature. In Jaipur, the players can expect the grounds to be bouncy.
BCCI certified curators provide better assistance to local curators
The local manager for the tournament is being assisted by 2 certified curators from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reportedly, the local curator Taposh Chatterjee will look after the proper conduction of matches in SMS Stadium besides providing any help required by the visiting curators. As per reports, Shiv Kumar from Kanpur is taking care of KL Saini Stadium while Raj Kumar Sharma from Himachal Pradesh is responsible for the Jaipuria Ground.
With the commencement of the 50-year tournament on February 20, the matches between teams from different states will be taking place over the next 3 weeks, across the country. While semi-finals are scheduled for March 11, the winner shall be decided by the final match on March 14.
