We’re sure you aren’t visiting the Pink City at this point of time! Jaipur is notorious for witnessing the hottest temperatures every year. This year is no different and though the summers have just begun, the city is already witnessing record shattering temperatures. On Monday, the city recorded a temperature of 45.8 degrees celsius, the highest of this season and going by current trends, it is going to get even worse from here on.
On Monday morning, Jaipurites woke up to a mildly warm temperature of almost 33.1 degrees celsius which is 5 notches above what the normal temperature is supposed to be. However, during the afternoon and towards the evening, the temperature skyrocketed to 45.8 degrees, which led to people staying indoors at these times.
The met department said that going by the current global trends, this is just the tip of the iceberg and citizens should brace themselves for higher temperatures in the near future. The ongoing heat has also led to many detrimental issues to Jaipurites’ health. Many cases of heat stroke, diarrhoea, sunburn and other problems have been recorded and it is on a constant rise.
The ongoing heat spell also brought with it many power cuts, which led to unbearable heat in indoor environments. Without the ability to use air conditioners and water coolers, there’s really no way the heat can be tackled. Apart from that, the heat stroke also brought the city to a standstill as it was just too hot to step outside.
Another district near Jaipur, Churu has so far recorded the highest temperature in the state. With searing temperatures up to 50.3 degree Celsius residents of Churu have it worse than anyone. In fact, on Monday, Churu was the hottest place on Earth. Even areas such as Jodhpur, Sriganganagar, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur are witnessing extreme heat and there’s very little that can be done about it.
