Jaipur’s urban livelihood fair: jobs, loan, street food festival & handicraft exhibition

Organized at Jawahar Kala Kendra, the Urban Livelihood fair in Jaipur is trying to provide job opportunities, easy loans and exposure to the youth and if you’re young and/or unemployed, this is where you should be!

The fair aims to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed urban youth and is a part of the Deendayal Upadhyay Antoday scheme- National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM). The event includes a job fair, loan camps, street food stalls and a handicraft exhibition of products made by women’s self help groups.

The livelihood fair began on Wednesday, February 6 and will go on till February 9.

What is it about?

The event is a part of a fifteen day drive organized by Rajasthan’s department for local self-governance as a part of DAY-NULM which started on February 1.

Pawan Arora- director of local self governance, said that several firms including RSLDC will be at the event to provide employment opportunities to 1,000 unemployed youth while the loan camps will be help them in starting their own business and becoming entrepreneurs, local news paper DNA reports.

With the event, the Jaipur center for livelihood is also reportedly going to launch an online application on the concluding day to help the potential beneficiaries of the scheme and local self-help group market their products to a wider range of audience.

Over 40 local street food vendors, who are attending the fair will also benefit from the event as it provides them with a workshop on street vendors act and also focuses on issuing certification for these vendors.
