Rajasthan's Palace on Wheels returns to tracks with affordable itineraries on the way

Although many distinct trains exist, the one-of-a-kind, absolutely supreme travel experience that the Palace on Wheels train can provide remains almost unmatched. This train, exclusive to Rajasthan, offers a slice of royalty on wheels, but was on a sabbatical for the past two years.

The iconic train is yet again functional, after a break of two years, and was flagged off to continue operations last month. Palace on Wheels traverses through some of the most culturally rich cities in Rajasthan including Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Agra and Delhi, providing a signature note of royal euphoria to the tourists.

Along with the re-run of Palace on Wheels train, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) has also started working on the launch of affordable two/three day itineraries to attract domestic tourists. The regular Palace on Wheels itineraries usually take seven days, and are catered towards international tourists.

Palace on Wheels was first hit the tracks back in the year 1982, as a joint effort on the part of Rajasthan tourism and Indian Railways to promote tourism. The train had remained operational ever since, until the year 2020, when it was halted by the state government in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
