A new electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been ingurated near the panoramic Moti Jheel in Kanpur. This is the first official charging station by the government in the city.
As many as six vehicles can be charged at a time. Besides EV cars, e-rickshaws and electric scooties can also find a charging anchorage here. An electric car is estimated to take 35-40 minutes to fully charge for ₹500, and chargers for four-wheelers are also available at the spot.
However, if you are the owner of an electric scooty or an e-rickshaw, you’d have to carry the vehicle’s charger along with you to the charging point.
Here’s how you can make use of the EV station
In order to make adequate use the new charging station, you’d have to download the ElectriVa mobile application and recharge the wallet. The QR code given on the machine has to be scanned from the app. Post that, the drill is a no-brainer. Connect the plug to the vehicle and press the switch on and voila!
The app is also smart in the manner that it lets you book slots for charging stations. Thus, you’d be able to choose a certain time, according to your convenience. Herein, it’ll acquaint you with information like the number of vehicles plugged in at the station.

Here are other specifications that could help. At the aforementioned station, three small vehicles can be charged simultaneously at the 10 KW point, in a period of 2 hours. One EV is expected to be fully charged in 45 minutes with a charger of 22 kW capacity. Whereas, EVs can be charged in 40 minutes at the point with 60 kW capacity. 1 kW costs from ₹18 to ₹20.
The station is one step towards an environmentally and socially conscious world. It conveys the message of sustainability by promoting the usage of electrically-powered vehicles that do not cause pollution. Another EV charging station is also slated to come up at Saket Nagar in Kanpur.
