In a bid to meet the escalating demand for e-buses in UP cities, Ashok Leyland, a prominent private heavy automobile company, has commenced the construction of a production factory near Lucknow.
The construction work for their new facility, located in the Kanpur road area of the city, is on right now. Operating under the umbrella of the Hinduja Group, the private company aims to manufacture electric buses primarily for the state, as well as for other cities across India. Additionally, the factory will cater to the ongoing demand for various alternative fuel-based vehicles
Plant will also provide employment opportunities

Ashok Leyland’s upcoming factory, situated on the outskirts of the city, will span across 70 acres of greenfield land. The facility will encompass various amenities including vehicle testing tracks, an R&D unit, office space, and assembly lines outfitted with cutting-edge machinery.
This establishment marks Ashok Leyland’s seventh manufacturing unit in the country and is poised to address the surging demand for electric buses while also bolstering regional development through job creation.
Initially, the plant is projected to produce 2,500 vehicles annually, with plans to ramp up production to 5,000 vehicles per year over the next decade.
