Lucknow is all set to welcome a new bigger and better airport terminal by 2021. City’s Chaudhary Charan Singh airport will now match the likes of Mumbai and Delhi airports.
After so many significant changes in the city, it is finally time for the airport to get an upgrade too. Also, the number of flyers to and from the city has increased tremendously, thus creating the need for better infrastructure.
Along with a world class passenger terminal, a multi level parking for 1500 vehicles and GRIHA 4 star environment rating, a retail area spread over 15000 sq m with basement area of 20000 sq m and integrated terminal area of 84000 sq m, is included in the project
The runway will be expanded to 3.1 km from the current 2.2 km. This will help in the operations of bigger aircrafts like Dreamliner. Size of apron area will also be increased to allow parking of at least 22 aircraft.
The number of flights per day will also increase from 75(67 domestic and 8 intrnational) per day to 200 per day. The new airport terminal with state of the art facilities will be ready by 2021and the work has already begun.
