After vaulting through obstacles which have hurdled the way for many decades, Lucknow University has finally managed to come up with a foolproof women’s cricket team of its own.
The team has been formed for the first time ever, in the whole 102-year-old history of LU. Furthermore, it will be debuting during a 20-20 match of the Inter-University North Zone Cricket Tournament scheduled on November 25. The date also happens to coincide with LU’s foundation day.
LU’s team to contest at the Inter-University North Zone Cricket Tournament
Reportedly, sports authorities at Lucknow University have constantly attempted to make efforts for the creation of a women’s cricket team in the past years. However, all was in vain due to multiple reasons including the lack of required number of participants necessary for the trials.
The team will be contesting against Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University’s team which hails from Faizabad, during their first match. Moreover, a total of 43 teams are participating in the Inter-University North Zone Cricket Tournament which will be held between November and 25-December 5.
