Residents of Lucknow woke up to a foggy morning on Saturday and as per IMD, there is going to be no relief from this cold weather anytime soon. With the winter chills on the rise, the capital city recorded a dip in temperature due to the westerly winds. As per the weather forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department department, the city’s temperature is likely to hover between 18-7°C in the next 48 hours.

In view of the recent change in the weather witnessed across the state, the MeT department has issued an alert of very dense fog and cold in Uttar Pradesh this weekend. As per the warning issued by the IMD, apart from Lucknow, 42 other districts and their adjoining areas are expected to experience a drop in temperature accompanied by excessive fog, especially during dusk and dawn time.

With a huge number of COVID cases piling up on an everyday basis, winter is not the only thing that is on the rise in Lucknow. Reportedly, registering yet another high, the city marked 2,209 new cases of coronavirus infection on Friday. As a consequence, the active caseload of Lucknow climbed to 12,195 cases as of January 14. According to the official data, a total of 229 people marked their recovery in the city on Friday as well.
