Officials of the departments have stated that numbers such as 101 (fire department), 102 and 108 (both for ambulances) will be in use on a regular basis until 112 picks up state-wide.
In Lucknow, getting a hold of the cops is an easy task. All one has to do is dial 100 on any phone and file a report. This is a rather easy task and should require no explanations, but one area where it lacks is, when it comes to integrated services.
When it comes to other emergencies in the city, one has to dial a slew of numbers to get in touch with the concerned agencies. And even after going through the tiresome process, help is not relayed soon enough.
In a new move, all of this is set to change as there will be just one integrated number- 112, for every complaint/issue, much like 911 in the US.
What’s the update?
Lucknow will soon get an integrated number for all its emergencies. The new number will integrate all response teams under one emergency number. All one has to do is dial 112, in case of any dire situation and they can immediately ask for help.
As of now, the logical thing to do is dial 100, and then be redirected to the department that can help you. However, with the new 112 number, you no longer have to wait, just state your emergency and help will be on the way.

Authorities have stated that they wish to move towards an emergency response system, wherein officials will be equipped with the capacity to take on any role, until the designated department shows up.
As of now, the 112 number has been adopted in 20 states across the nation. Once we have a fixed emergency number, you can expect seamless emergency response.
