In a bid to check the spread of seasonal infections in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government launched a door-to-door surveillance drive on Tuesday. Under this scheme, the health officials will inspect households and spot individuals with symptoms of COVID, viral fever and other ailments being caused by the changing weather conditions. With an objective to curb water-borne diseases specifically, the state-wide campaign is a step towards preventing the uncontrolled spread of such infections.
Source reduction steps to mitigate the spread of vector-borne diseases
In view of the increasing cases and uncertainties, the Chief Minister ordered medical authorities to admit only serious patients in hospital OPDs/IPDs, during a high-level meeting on Tuesday. Further, the health teams have been instructed to conduct extensive sanitisation drives, wherein anti-larva solutions will be sprayed and fogging interventions will be undertaken. These measures will be implemented in regions with more than a single case of Dengue.
The CM has asked to ensure such steps that can help in source reduction, both in the urban and rural areas. Additionally, he said, “Make sure patients’ health updates are given to the family members at regular intervals. Patients and their relatives should be contacted through the CM Helpline too,” Besides, the citizens have been asked to keep a check on their surroundings and ensure that there are no breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
All local governing bodies to undertake steps at their respective levels
As per the directives given by the Chief Minister, Panchayati Raj, Urban Development Department, Nagar Panchayats, Gram Vikas, municipalities, and municipal corporations will undertake cleanliness drives across areas lying under their jurisdiction.
In addition to this, over 66 teams comprising groups of NDRF, SDRF and PAC have been sent to the different districts to deal with the hardships ushered by the floods. These teams are executing relief operations for all affected villages and nodal officers have also been designated in every district to assess their works.
