In view of the rising COVID cases in Goa, all schools and colleges across the state will remain shut till January 26. The announcement was made by Dr. Shekhar Salkar, a member of the task force for COVID management in Goa.
Taskforce to meet before Jan 26 to decide future course of action
After the meeting of task force members, chaired by the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Salkar said, "Schools and colleges will be closed in Goa till January 26 in view of the rising Covid cases. Classes will be conducted online during the period". Reportedly, the task force will review the situation before January 26 to discuss the future course of action in accordance with the situation then.
While offline classes will not be conducted in educational institutes as per the latest guideline, however, the vaccination of students aged 15-18 will take place in the school premises over the course of the next few days. Notably, the students will have to stay at home post the vaccination as classes will continue online till January 26.
Night curfew & other restrictions to be imposed in Goa soon!
Notably, with the influx of tourists in the festive season, the positivity rate in Goa has crossed the 10% mark now. A total of 388 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Goa, on Sunday. With this spike, night curfew and other restrictions are also likely to be imposed soon in the state.
