Ahead of an expected surge in COVID-19 cases, Goa stocks up its oxygen inventories

Goa is facing a scenario where its oxygen demands are set to double but this has only increased the efforts of the state government to supplement its inventory of oxygen supplies to meet the expected need, informed the Health Minister. Goa has also roped in government and private players in Karnataka and Kerala, leaving no stone unturned to ensure it is able to provide the prescribed medical treatment to all patients under the state's care.

IMA-Goa to provide free teleconsultation for COVID-19 victims under home isolation!

Holding the unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases in view, the Goa chapter of the Indian Medical Association, has started a free teleconsultation programme for patients who are either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and under home isolation. As per a statement issued by the Goa branch of the association, around 150 doctors across the state have enrolled in the programme. This will further help the isolated COVID victims to avail themselves of medical aid while at home, thus reducing their anxiety and allowing them to follow COVID-19 restrictive norms, parallelly.

Goa enforces embargo on the export of oxygen cylinders to deal with internal COVID surge

The Goa government, on Saturday, banned the export of oxygen cylinders outside the state due to increased internal requirement, in wake of the fierce COVID surge here. As per reports, Goa registered a record-high surge of 927 cases in 24 hours on Friday, taking the count of total active cases in the state to 6,321. Consequently, the oxygen cylinders have been reserved for the treatment of critical patients here.

Goa records highest single-day COVID tally on Thursday, with 757 new infections!

After hovering around the 500-mark for over a week, Goa's COVID count breached all records on Thursday, registering a total of 757 new infections. With this unprecedented spike, the active cases in the state soared up to 5,682 while the cumulative count of COVID-affected individuals stood at 64,572. Given the spiralling rate of infections, the fatalities have also increased and 5 COVID-related deaths were also registered on Thursday.

In a first, Goa Medical College provides 2 essential tests for COVID patients free of cost

With an objective to analyse the unprecedented rise in COVID cases seen in Goa recently, the state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane summoned a meeting of the top officials on Monday. There, the minister remarked that Goa is the first state in the country to offer D-Dimer and Interleukin 6, the two important tests for COVID-19 patients, free of cost. Reportedly, these tests are being conducted at the Goa Medical College for assessing the condition of COVID patients.
