1 lakh more jabs needed to achieve 100% first dose coverage in Goa

With the vaccination of another 1 lakh beneficiaries, Goa will be able to achieve its target 100% COVID vaccination coverage for its eligible population. As per reports, the state has been planning to restart tourism activities after this feat is met. The deadline for the same had been announced as July 31. The CM has appealed to the public to come forward and get the anti-virus jab to accelerate the process.

New infections drop below 100 in Goa for the 1st time in 118 days!

With the retreating second wave of the pandemic, COVID graphs have taken a continuous downward trajectory in Goa. On Monday, less than 100 new cases were registered in the state for the first time in 118 days. No new fatality was recorded either and the active tallies too have contracted to a count of 1,436 patients now. Notably, the test positivity rate for the previous week stands at 3.3% and the recovery rate has also marked a small hike climbing up to 97.3%.

Curfew restrictions extended for a week in Goa till 7 AM on July 26!

As a move of caution against the ongoing pandemic, the Goa government has extended the curfew restrictions for one more week till 7 AM on July 26. While the restraints were first imposed on May 9, they have now stretched for a period of more than 2 and a half months. Notably, gyms, religious places, shops, malls and other places have been allowed to reopen with certain terms and conditions, the basic one being complete adherence to COVID protocol.

Goa government makes inoculation mandatory for school teachers in the state

In a bid to strengthen the guard against the fatal contagion, the Goa state government has made vaccination compulsory for schools teachers, with an exception. As per the rules, all healthy school teachers will have to take the immunity booster jab and only those with a certain medical condition will be exempted from the regulation. Announcing the latest decision on Wednesday, the Chief Minister affirmed that the intervention would help in protecting the students.

Goa reports zero COVID death for the first time in 4 months on Monday!

In a COVID respite, the state of Goa managed to nullify its virus toll for the first time in 4 months. On Monday, no coronavirus deaths were reported here, the health department announced.
