Taking quick cognisance of accelerating infection tallies in the state, the Rajasthan Government had imposed lockdown restrictions in the state till May 3rd. Now, the administration has decided to extend the period of lockdown and increase the limitations till the new detections are brought under control. Aimed at breaking the chain of infections, this decision was taken by the government in a COVID review meeting conducted under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
Fresh guidelines expected in a day or two
It is expected that the authorities will release a new set of guidelines related to the lockdown in a day or two. Addressing top executives in the review meeting, the Chief Minister asked for augmented restrictions to curtail the spread of contamination. He instructed the officers to ensure that the restraints are imposed in such a way that employment activities of citizens from economically marginalised sections stand uninterrupted.
While lockdown is often called the measure of last resort, it became a necessity for Rajasthan which has been severely affected by the second COVID wave. Once the daily case count lowers to controlled levels and the current excessive burden on medical infrastructure is eased, the restrictions would be gradually revoked.
