IIT Indore recently partook in the second edition of the R&D fair, IInvenTiv 2024, showcasing four of its cutting-edge technologies in Defense and Space Technology, Agriculture and Food Processing, Industry 4.0 and Affordable Healthcare domains.
Held at IIT Hyderabad, IInvenTiv 2024, a one-of-its-kind affair, is aimed at merging academia with industry. This massive R&D fair unveiled solutions to numerous challenges, with as many as 53 premier Indian higher education institutions showing an impressive display of 120 ground-breaking projects to more than 2,000 industry stakeholders.

The Union Education Minister shared at the event, “India is an emerging global leader in research and development.” The platform, while uniting various IITs, NITs, IISc, and top 50 NIRF-ranking colleges, envisages to expand R&D in the country.
Here, IIT Indore showcased four innovations among a group of chosen 128 other institutes. Developed by eminent research groups of the institute, including Professors Palani IA, Trapti Jain and Saibal Mukherjee, these technologies were as follows:

Tribo-electric nanogenerator-integrated shoe sole for energy harvesting. The objective of this technology, invented by Dr IA Palani, Anshu Sahu, Diksha Jaurker, Shailesh M Kohle and Bibhuti Bhusan Padhya, is to power micro-devices for army personnel. The shoe, that works as a person walks, stores energy which can later be used to power micro devices in a remote location.

Wide Area-Monitoring of the Indian Electricity Grid for Enhanced Visibility: This tech software, invented by Dr Trapti Jain and Adnan Iqbal, aims at resolving the challenge of expensive, non-customisable foreign solutions in power grid monitoring.

Point-of-Care (PoC), an IoT-enabled Uric acid Sensor System: Invented by Shaibal Mukherjee, Chandrabhan Patel, Mayank Dubey, Vikash Kumar Verma and Sumit Chaudhary, the sensor focuses on providing solutions in affordable healthcare. The device monitors and, in turn, helps manage uric acid levels in fluids to aid patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases.

Bhu-Samvardhak, invented by Professor Shaibal Mukherjee, Vikash Kumar Verma, Chandrabhan Patel, Mayank Dubey and Sumit Chaudhary: This final innovation offers real-time monitoring of soil health. It comes with image processing abilities, thus, helping reduce yield loss, early detection of disease, manages resources, in turn, promoting sustainability, and more.
