Recently, a news has been circulating that the iconic 1000-seater Galaxy Theatre, part of G7 multiplex in Bandra, owned by Manoj Desai, has been shut down on April 19. However, recently Desai clarified that the reports doings the rounds are fake. He further added, “Nothing has been shut. Everything is fine. This is a very bad rumour which is being spread by my well-wisher. Whatever is being said is wrong.”
Earlier on April 23, it was alleged that due to the lack of audience engagement with recent Bollywood releases, Gaiety Galaxy’s owners had decided to close the multiplex. Knocksense conducted an exclusive interview with people around G7 Multiplex, all of whom firmly refuted the rumour and affirmed that the cinema house has been operating smoothly.
Amrit Kumar, running a small shop nearby mentioned,”If Galaxy shuts down, we will have to shut shop! The crowd on weekends and during big Bollywood releases, keeps my earnings moving.”
Manoj Desai was further noted saying that Gaiety Galaxy was shut only for three days because he was setting up a brand new projector and screen. He also mentioned, “The theatre has been running since 1972 and I am associated with it for more than 50 years. So we have to update it and make several changes because of which we decided to keep it shut only for three days, from April 22 to April 24. From April 26, shows will run as usual.”
