The Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow will soon don a new and revamped look as the redevelopment work of the city’s oldest railway station is set to begin soon! With a budget of over ₹427 crores, the Railway Land Development Authority is now on to preparing the blueprint for this much-awaited revamp. Upon completion of this ambitious project, the railway station is expected to offer world-class facilities to commuters.
Station to be equipped with state-of-the-art ameneties
On Tuesday, the RLDA organised a physical as well as virtual meeting with all the stakeholders (developers and railway officials) to discuss the pre-bidding plan of action. According to officials, the entire redevelopment work will be carried out on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Model.
As per the plans, the platforms at Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow will get a state-of-the-art waiting lounge, food court, entertainment and infotainment area. These facilities will come up on the upcoming concourse that will cover the platforms. Passengers using these facilities will be able to head directly towards the train from the 120-m long and 115-m broad concourse area.
Apart from the changes inside the station, the officials dropped hints about other structural changes that are going to come up at the Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow. These changes will not only add ease for passengers but also ensure a smoother flow of traffic, here.
New entry at Charbagh coming up, soon!
Moreover, the redevelopment plan also includes making a second entry at the station. A major boon for people residing on the Cantonment side of the station, this new entry will also house multiple world-class facilities.
Reportedly, a seven-storey grand building will come up at the station that will have commercial complexes, a food court, a budget hotel, a waiting lounge, a VIP lobby and retiring rooms, among others.
