A year already? Kanpur Metro celebrates one year anniversary and here’s what it achieved

A year already? Time flies by fast when life is comfortable and easy. One year ago, on December 28, Kanpur Metro was flagged off for the first time ever. This was along a 9 KMs long priority section from IIT-Kanpur to Motijheel. Since then, Kanpur Metro has served ample number of customers, hosted many birthday parties and happens to be the cleanest mode of public transport in the city.

And here, we are bringing you some of their most pivotal milestones from the first year.

Kanpur Metro successfully served 21 lakh customers in one year

In its first year, Kanpur Metro has proved to be remarkably successful and has received full corporation and support from the people. It has, till date served 21 lakh commuters in the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from building a robust transportation network, Kanpur Metro has helped create cleaner and less congested roads, regularly maintained green corridors and a beautiful infrastructure. A gold star on Kanpur’s roll of achievements.

Commendable lost and found services

Reportedly, under UPMRC’s ‘Commendable Work’ campaign, Kanpur Metro’s security staff has safely returned the lost items in the Metro system to over 130 commuters.

So far, cash worth ₹52,000, two laptops, 19 smartphones and 142 other items, including essential documents including jewellery have been returned to the commuters by the Metro staff.

Your birthday celebrations couldn’t be more unique

Additionally, Kanpur Metro has also emerged as a new fun zone for the people of Kanpur. The facility of birthday celebrations aboard metro trains started by the authorities was highly appreciated by the people.

Efficient Kanpur Metro Mobile Application

UPMRCL launched the Kanpur Metro mobile app for easy travel on the priority route. The app offers features like metro route map, timings, nearby metro stations and QR-based ticket booking facility. The future forward move has been highly lauded by the people and offers smart, convenient and less time-consuming travel facilities.

Clean and hygienic environment for passengers

Apart from the above achievements, Kanpur Metro has provided people a clean and fresh environment, especially in terms of public transport. To make travel pollution-free, Kanpur metro has a strict no litter policy in the premises of each station as well as aboard the train. Along with this, it also has clean RO water, toilets and escalators at for daily commuters.

In the past one year, Kanpur Metro has provided a safe, easy and convenient means of public transport to the residents of Kanpur. As part of the celebrations, on December 28, Metro authorities even hosted a photo exhibition at Motijheel Metro station and a special Metro ride was organised for eminent personalities of the city.
