Ahmedabad’s Geetamandir Bus Port has added a second terminal to handle growing passenger traffic on routes to Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat. Deputy CM inaugurated Terminal-2, a 4,309 sq m facility equipped with upgraded passenger amenities. The new terminal began operations on August 13, with around 1,091 buses departing daily for destinations across Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat.
Terminal-2 to handle Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat buses
The new terminal has been designated for buses serving Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat. Services to South Gujarat will continue to operate from Terminal-1. The division of services between the two terminals is expected to streamline boarding and reduce crowding at Geetamandir Bus Port, one of Ahmedabad’s busiest intercity transport hubs.
370-seat waiting area and dedicated passenger facilities
Spread across 4,309 sq m, Terminal-2 has been designed to improve passenger movement and waiting facilities. Key amenities include:
- 16 Platforms
- 370-seat passenger capacity
- Separate waiting hall
- 130-seat canteen
- Dedicated Saurashtra-Kutch bus operations
- Digital passenger information displays
- Clear signage for easier navigation
- Facilities and assistance for passengers with special needs
The terminal also includes real-time bus information and arrangements intended to make boarding more organised.
New terminal aims to ease Geetamandir congestion
Geetamandir Bus Port handles a large volume of intercity passengers travelling to different parts of Gujarat. The addition of Terminal-2 is aimed at distributing passenger and bus movement across separate facilities, particularly during busy periods. With more than 1,000 daily departures planned from the new terminal, the facility is expected to play a key role in managing traffic on Ahmedabad’s Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat routes.
