The beautiful Atal foot over bridge in Ahmedabad witnessed a mishap on Wednesday night, as one of its eight glass slabs developed a crack. The internal layers of the slab, which is made of toughened glass, cracked. Authorities say that the glass slab itself is safe, and is only internally damaged.
The Rainbow bridge is frequented by thousands every day
The cracked glass is expected to be replaced within the next seven days and the area has been barricaded, while the bridge is closed for visitors until the work is complete. The replacement of the glass slab at the rainbow bridge in Ahmedabad will cost somewhere between ₹80,000 and ₹85,000.
Although the other seven glass slabs on the Atal foot over bridge have also undergone quite a lot of wear and tear owing to the massive footfall, the authorities state that there is no need to replace those as of now.
