Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a game-changer for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, is set to be inaugurated on the 17th of April, 2025. Spread over 1,160 hectares, this ₹18,000 crore project is a public-private partnership between Adani Airports Holdings Limited and CIDCO. The first successful commercial aircraft landing on the 29th of December marked a significant milestone in the airport’s operational readiness.
The airport will begin domestic operations by the end of May 2025 and international services by July. Initially, Terminal 1 will handle 20 million passengers annually. Terminal 2, part of Phase 2, will increase capacity by an additional 30 million passengers annually and is slated for construction by mid-2025.
NMIA features state-of-the-art infrastructure, including two parallel runways, parking for 350 aircraft and advanced systems like the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) to ensure safe landings.
By 2029, with both terminals operational, NMIA aims to accommodate 50 million passengers yearly. Seamless connectivity to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport via integrated road and Metro networks will also establish it as a critical aviation hub.
