To enhance aviation safety, kite flying and the use of laser lights have been banned within a 10-kilometre radius of Lucknow’s Amausi Airport. The decision was made during a meeting of the Airport Environment Management Committee held on June 23. A formal request for enforcement has been sent to the Police Commissioner.
Flight safety behind the move
Officials stated that both laser lights and kite flying pose risks to aircraft operations, particularly during take-off and landing. Further, the airport authorities identified four to five meat shops near the airport as potential security risks. The Divisional Commissioner directed municipal officials to form a team to have them removed promptly.
To improve safety and hygiene, municipal officials were also instructed to sterilise stray dogs around the airport area. In addition, concerns were raised about tall buildings with towers and staircases near the runway access road, which were deemed hazardous. Their removal has been ordered.
The Divisional Commissioner further directed authorities to resolve water-logging issues and maintain cleanliness in and around the airport premises.
