What is Pushkar festival?
Pushkar festival is a one of a kind fete that culminates the spirit and gaiety of the entire state of Rajasthan. The festival is one that tends to bring together people from all walks of life to have a shared experiences and to see exactly how people in rural Rajasthan live.
What can you expect?
At the two-week festival, the most unique thing to see is the camel sale. Cattle owners bring some of the rarest and most pristine camels here for sale. Though this is not for us mere mortals, those that live life extravagantly can buy a camel here. The rest of us will have to settle for camel rides, which are rather fun too.

Apart from that, there are the usual carnival things that you would expect. Massive merry go rounds, loads of rides and fun stuff to partake in, this mela is one that has something for everyone. In fact, if you go on time, you can also head over and take a spin in the hot air balloon and catch some mesmerising views of the city and the adjoining sand dunes.
What’s more is that the fair brings to live the culture and the ethos of Rajasthani fine and performing arts. Offering you extravagant performances to dance and music to marvel at, you get to witness something that very few people have.

How to get there?
Lucknowites often take trips to Jaipur and the town of Pushkar isn’t too far from there. At a distance of over 700 kilometres from Lucknow, a drive would be possible, but we advise you against it.
We would suggest that you take a train or a flight to Jaipur and then head over to the small, festival town. In fact, you can also take a train to Pushkar directly, though it might take you on a longer journey. Additionally, flights to Pushkar will also divert you before taking you to your final destination.
