In a strive to promote the use of greener solutions in Uttar Pradesh, the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has undertaken the task of setting up 4 ‘Vedic Paint’ manufacturing sites in the state. Vedic paints are naturally procured alternative paints, that are more eco-friendly than chemically sourced materials, making them a smarter and greener choice. As per the Khadi Commission Director, these novel units will be set up at Barabanki, Varanasi, Ballia and Meerut, to boost the pillars of sustainable growth and development in UP.

‘Vedic’ or ‘Khadi’ paints are organically manufactured paint materials that are made from natural sources. The final product, as such, does not contain harmful toxins or hazardous compound present in the chemical paint and are equally durable as other equivalents available in the market. Among other upsides, the new pain products would cost significantly lesser than other paints, the KVIC Director elaborated.
As of now, ‘Vedic’ paints are available in two distinct categories – white and distemper’. The manufacturing of both types is presently being conducted at Jaipur’s Sanganer on a pilot project basis. The commission is further planning to develop the paint in other colours as well to promote widespread use. Research and designing are underway for the same, officials informed.
