Lucknow has emerged as the new hotspot of coronavirus cases, surpassing Ghaziabad in the list of most active cases in Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, about 197 people tested positive for coronavirus in the city. With this number, Lucknow has reported highest number of cases for 3 consecutive days in UP. The city tally of active cases now stands at about 1460 cases, followed by Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar with 1248 and 872 cases respectively.
New Containment Zones
With the relaxations in the lockdown guidelines, the number of cases has been on a steady rise in Lucknow and the month of July has marked the maximum number of cases in just 13 days. About 60% of the cases in the city have been reported in this month, with 30 times the growth rate of the last month.

While the death toll in the city is at 33, 13 of these were reported at the beginning of July. The health officers all over the city are taking precautions and actions to curb the growth of the coronavirus and about 64 new areas in Lucknow have been converted into containment zones, taking the number to 400 in the city.
Marked at 42%, the recovery rate in Lucknow is also on a rise and new facilities for asymptomatic and symptomatic patients are being made available in the city. Out of the 2578 cases reported in the city since its outbreak on March 11, a total of 1085 patients have recovered. The state’s recovery rate stands around 63%.
