Keeping in sight the rising cases of COVID-19 around and to tackle the spread, the state election commission (SEC) in Rajasthan has reformed the format of voting this year. The number of voters who will be polling in each station, has been brought down to 700 from the earlier 1400 figure. This has been done to keep the protocols of social distancing in place.
Over 40 lakh voters will partake in the electoral process
The Nagar Palika elections are said to be held in August and owing to it, the authorities have currently set up 7,400 polling stations. During the general elections of the 129 municipal bodies last year, 4,294 polling stations were installed.
It is being said that over 40 lakh voters will take part in the electoral process and overall there are 4,450 wards. The local officials have also urged the commission to postpone the polls due to the surging COVID-19 cases. As of now, Jaipur has 6,250 confirmed cases with 1,725 active cases.
