Uttar Pradesh is yet again witnessing a surging covid curve and within a day’s time, the state has recorded 2,053 confirmed corona cases. On the other hand, the capital city, Lucknow, has recorded 325 cases on Monday which has pushed the city’s covid tally to 69,567 as yet. Reportedly, approximately 74% of the total patients in Lucknow have opted for home isolation and the recovery rate is currently pegged at 93.69% while the fatality rate is marked at 1.43%. Keeping the swelling numbers in sight and to curtail the spread, the state government has put forward a new set of guidelines.
UP CM directs officials to make provisions in advance for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine
Pertaining to social, cultural or religious programmes, the officials have capped the number of guests who can be present at the venue/event. On October 15, the guest count was increased to 200 but now the UP government has brought it down to 100. Face masks, social distancing, thermal scanning and sanitisers will be mandatory at all events, be it indoors or outdoors. Last week, the authorities of Noida and Ghaziabad, restricted the number of guests at weddings to 100, days after Delhi restricted the number of visitors to 50 visitors, at each venue.
UP’s Chief Minister on Monday, directed officials to make provisions in advance for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine to the citizens in an “organised and time-bound manner”. It is being said that the vaccine will be available in India within the first half of 2021.
Virtual inauguration of BSL laboratories
While addressing a review meeting, the CM was quoted saying, “All preparations for the vaccination should be done in advance. Covid-19 vaccination work should be conducted with inter-departmental coordination. A strong arrangement of the cold chain for vaccine preservation should be ensured in all districts by December 15.” Additionally, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated and made way for BSL laboratories, in different private and government hospitals in the state.
Previously, Uttar Pradesh has also been lauded for its COVID-19 management tactics by the World Health Organization (WHO). A government press release stated that the officials of WHO, appreciated the Uttar Pradesh state government for tracing high-risk contacts and setting a good example for the rest of the country to follow.
