In a move to tighten the grip over the diffusing pandemic situation in Goa, the state government has declared the extension of the ongoing curfew till August 9. While the curfew restraints were operational till 2nd August previously, the latest announcement by the South Goa District Administration has stretched the time period for one more week. As per reports, the current restrictions will be continued and no new relaxations have been offered.
Curfew extends for a total period of 3 months!

Under the previous orders, malls and shops in the coastal state were allowed to function from 7 AM to 6 PM. Additionally, salons and outdoor sports complexes are also permitted to operate while gyms can welcome users, up to 50% of the total capacity. Further, religious places have also been opened but not more than 15 people are allowed at a time.
Notably, the COVID curfew was imposed for the first in the state on May 9 and now, it has stretched for a total period of 3 months. While a number of centres have been reopened, cinema halls, casinos, auditoriums and weekly markets will remain to be closed. Besides, the administration has not permitted the reopening of educational centres but the scheduled examinations will be conducted. Mapping a continuous downward trajectory, COVID tallies in Goa have now inched closer to the controlled zone of infections. As per records, 1,71,205 individuals have been affected by the highly contagious virus in the state till now while 3,148 of these have succumbed to the contagion. Now, the state has 1,011 active cases and nearly 69% of its eligible population has been given the first dose of the vaccine.
