Indore is boosting its health infrastructure in response to the emergent second wave of the coronavirus here. The district is actively nursing the second-highest tally of positive cases in Madhya Pradesh and has decided to extend medical support to all patients, under home isolation by means of the 24-hour COVID control room. The nodal officer of the control room informed sources that via this extension, the district is able to monitor the health status of infected individuals through audio and video calls.

The Indore Health Department is activating all services of the COVID control room in the district to extend through all 24 hours. It will further be tasked with the responsibility to track, monitor and provide assistance to the positive patients quarantining under home isolation. The Nodal Officer of this centre further informed that infected individuals can either connect with the officials here via an audio or video call, or through the helping number 1075. Similar services have also been made available to the patients on the ‘Sarthak’ mobile application.
The official stated that besides COVID tested patients, the control room will also monitor the activity of all those people who have returned to Indore from foreign countries. According to COVID-19 guidelines, they are expected to observe home quarantine and this will be now tracked by video calls.
A 100-member staff body will be working to ensure that the goals and responsibility of the control room are met. At present, Indore hosts as many as 2,240 cases and most of them are under home quarantine, the Nodal officer informed. Around 477 fresh cases were reported in the district on Tuesday, taking the cumulative cases in the district to 65,373.
